Governance Structure: Serving as a division of the Secretary of State, the Library Division provides information services as authorized by law. Research and reference services are provided in many subject areas, especially law, government, genealogy and public policy. Statewide consultant services are offered to public libraries to strengthen their services as well as to the government agencies of cities, counties and state to assist them in the management of public records with no cost to the taxpayer. Our Arizona State Advisory Board shall advise the Secretary of State in the supervision of the State Library. The Board consists of the President of the Senate, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, one member of the Senate who is appointed by the President of the Senate and who is a member of a different political party than the President, one member of the House of Representatives who is appointed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives and who is a member of a different political party than the Speaker and seven members who are appointed by the Secretary of State.
