Allied and Other Special Operations:
The Library of Virginia serves as the research and reference library at the seat of Virginia state government. The Library has the most comprehensive collection of material documenting more than 400 years of the state's history, including printed works, newspapers, state and federal documents, official state records, and the papers of Virginia businesses, military organizations, religious groups, and other entities. The state archives, which are the most heavily visited of all state archives in the nation, are also part of the Library of Virginia. The Library is also responsible for the state's records management program and the Virginia Newspaper Project. Visitation to the Library of Virginia in fiscal year 2007 totaled 193,028.
