Join us in managing the award-winning Alaska Resources Library & Information Services (ARLIS) in Anchorage, Alaska! The University of Alaska Anchorage / Alaska Pacific University Consortium Library is seeking a full-time ARLIS Coordinator and communication point person familiar with library operations, budget development and management, collection management, and natural science-focused reference and research services to join the ARLIS Management Team. This term faculty position offers opportunities for collaboration within the university and with libraries across the state in serving the research staff of multiple state and federal natural resource agencies, the university, the private sector, and the public. Assume supervisor of record responsibilities.
Directly access University of Alaska financial and personnel systems to effectively work with ARLIS budget coordinator in managing ARLIS financial agreement and personnel expenditures.
Manage library access services onsite, provide onsite supervision for ILL library technician 2, provide reference / research services, receive and report circulation statistics.
Assume collection development manager responsibilities, including donation management, backlog integration, acquisition and selection, FDLP management, weeding, and other collection management functions.
Apply expert knowledge of library principles, methods, practices, and resources to assist in directing the administrative, operational, and professional functions of ARLIS as a member of the ARLIS Management Team. Emphasis is on serving as the ARLIS communication point person representing the ARLIS Management Team in interfacing with ARLIS’s multiple state and federal Founders, and working closely with the ARLIS agreement Principal Investigator.
Required: Master's degree from an ALA-accredited institution; Knowledge of Alaskana, natural science, or technical materials; Knowledge of library management and budget management; Two years of reference experience; Two years minimum of supervisory experience
Preferred: Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to problem solving and working across organizational boundaries; Aptitude for complex, analytical work with an attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities and competing deadlines; Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a collegial team environment. A strong commitment to user access to information.
Preferred: Experience managing and communicating complex budget details to diverse audiences; Experience working in team-based or multi-organizational environment; Experience managing or working in a special library; Collection development experience; Experience providing research / reference assistance to agencies with varying missions; Familiarity with Alaska materials.

REQUIRED EDUCATION OR TRAINING:
Master's degree in Library Science (or equivalent) from an ALA-accredited program at the time of appointment;
Minimum annual salary $76,000.
