It's been said a picture is worth a thousand words.  The Chief Officers of State Library Agencies (COSLA), the Council of State Archivists (CoSA) and the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) have five tips to help you make sure you know which pictures you're finding on the internet to trust and which to view skeptically.  "When to Trust Your Eyes:  How to Catch an Altered Image" suggestions include:

  • Watch for bends and distortions
  • Watch for reflections and light
  • Look for the blur
  • Check the date
  • Get help from technology
