2024 Fall Conference Host City and Venue This year, the COSLA chiefs are heading to Huntsville, Alabama; the home state of COSLA Chief Nancy Pack. In Huntsville, change is a constant companion, while tradition remains deeply cherished. The city boasts a tapestry of historic architecture and neighborhoods alongside cutting-edge industries in aerospace, defense, and biotech. Its culture fosters innovation and inclusivity, making it known as the "Rocket City" for its ability to embrace the future without losing sight of its past.
Originally the hub of cotton trading in the Tennessee Valley during the 1840s and '50s, modern-day Huntsville mirrors its historic roots with a global flair, as its residents converse in over 100 languages and dialects. The city hosts manufacturing facilities owned by Korean and Japanese companies, as well as a major international computer manufacturing firm headquartered right in Huntsville. Moreover, Huntsville proudly houses the U.S. Space & Rocket Center and NASA's Marshall Space Flight Center, solidifying its reputation as a cornerstone of space exploration.
No visit to Huntsville is complete without savoring its renowned Southern cuisine. From mouthwatering barbecue joints to quaint family-owned diners serving up classic dishes like shrimp and grits or fried green tomatoes, Huntsville's culinary scene reflects the warmth and hospitality of the South.
Fall Conference activities will be hosted at the Huntsville Marriott at the Space & Rocket Center.
