Supporting Rural and Tribal Library Workers & Communities: a perspectives gathering session with the CIRCL
Wednesday, July 26, 2023, 4:00 PM - 5:30 PM EDT
Category: Partner Webinars hosted by COSLA

Join us for a perspectives gathering session on the state of rural and tribal library structures of support and systemic needs these workers and their organizations face.

We each work with and on behalf of rural communities and their libraries. This facilitated discussion will begin with a simple, evidence-based axiom: communities with libraries are better off than those without. And a belief: library workers are doing good work that doesn’t need “fixing”, but could use funding, resource-sharing, research, and advocacy support.

Presenters: Margo Gustina (Rural Libraries & Social Wellbeing), David Lankes (UT - Austin iSchool), and Kimberly Silk (Brightsail Research) propose CIRCL as a way of building, testing, and implementing a programmatic agenda to support and build the work already enacted in rural and tribal libraries.

Schedule:
4:00 - 5:00           Facilitated perspectives gathering in small groups
5:00 - 5:30          CIRCL current plans and asks (optional)
